THE LAYAR PROJECT
The Layar Project is a platform that supports Asian, Asian-American, and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) filmmakers. Every month, it hosts a script lab for a select number of fellows to support emerging Pacific Islander screenwriters. I am honored to have been selected as part of the October 2023 cohort.

COPY + PASTE
In a world where people are assigned their jobs according to aptitude, a burned-out paranormal exterminator comes face to face with his doppelganger, a rising musical theater actor, from another dimension.

TRENCHCOATS
Trenchcoats is the concept for a television show that I created in a television writing course. The show will have a film noir aesthetic, but with a fantastical twist. Set in an alternate version of the 1920s where a small percentage of the world population has an unusual superpower, the show will explore issues of capitalism, social inequality, and corruption from a dramedy angle as it follows the talented and ever-cheerful Detective Xylos Bade in his bid to root out the corruption in his city.

FILMMAKING FOR INTROVERTS
Filmmaking for Introverts is a passion project that is currently in its planning stages. This YouTube series is meant to help my fellow filmmaking introverts navigate the heavily collaborative industry as people who might not be naturally social. Drawing from my own experiences, this animated series will feel like a laid-back, casual chat with a friend.

ABOUT ME
Hello! I'm Gabbi Jiang (she/her)! Currently, I'm a senior majoring in Film & TV at NYU Tisch School of the Arts. I'm also pursuing a double degree in Creative Writing at NYU's College of Arts and Science.
As a writer at heart, I particularly enjoy screenwriting, and I'm passionate about strange and wonderful concepts! I'm currently working on incorporating animation into my work to bring these ideas to life. My favorite genres are sci-fi, horror, comedy, and fantasy.
In my free time, I consume podcasts, films, and books about the bizarre, the scary, and everything in between!
